Hyundai Motor Company on Tuesday announced its first-ever full-time sales of the Model 3 sedan and the first-time ever sales of a luxury sedan, the luxury sedan that was unveiled at the California Auto Show earlier this month.
Hyundai said that the Model S sedan, which is expected to debut in 2019, was the company’s highest-selling model in the U.S. since it launched in 2007.
The sedan has been the company, with sales up more than 60 percent year-over-year, to an estimated 3,600,000 units.
The company said that sales of premium vehicles such as the BMW i3, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and Cadillac CTS-V, which all sell for upwards of $50,000, are expected to continue.
The Tesla Model 3, a plug-in hybrid electric car, has a range of 265 miles on a single charge.
The Model 3 will debut in 2020 and is expected at launch to sell for around $100,000.
Hyundai is not the only company to unveil a new luxury sedan in the past few months.
Earlier this month, Ford announced the unveiling of its new Mustang crossover, which will hit the market in 2019.
Ford also plans to launch a new SUV, the Expedition, which it hopes will rival the Chevrolet Bolt EV.
