The largest department stores in the United States have been getting an overhaul in recent years, and they are looking to make some big changes to the way they do business.
The Washington Post is tracking what it calls “the new department store,” a big part of which will be a new approach to what makes up the retailer’s stores.
Here’s what you need to know about how the department store will look in the coming year.

The department store is now a lot like a car: It is big, it is slow, it has high ceilings and lots of windows, but it is not meant to be used as a leisure vehicle, the experts say.
It will be the most important place in the retail landscape to work, and that means a lot of new and exciting jobs.
Some of those jobs are in customer service, which will continue to drive the business, but others will be in retail and wholesale and food services.
The Post also asked the department stores whether they are interested in bringing back the grocery store experience, which has been fading out in the wake of online shopping.
Some retailers are already experimenting with the idea, and others, like Wal-Mart, are still mulling it over.
Wal-Mart is working on the idea and has a team of more than a dozen retail people, who are working with a team that includes a chef, an executive chef and a retail associate.
The goal is to figure out how to make the experience as close to being a traditional grocery store as possible, said Wendy McAlister, a Wal-mart spokeswoman.
Wal- Mart said it has not made a final decision on a return to the grocery business.
At the other end of the scale, Sears is testing a new concept for its department store that will be designed to look like a modern mall.
The department store plans to bring back its mall shopping experience, and it will be smaller and with a higher ceiling than other department stores.
But it won’t be just traditional stores like Sears and Macy’s that will look at their department store experience.
The company has also taken steps to boost customer engagement, including launching an online portal that allows customers to shop at all three stores.
The New York Times recently reported that the company is working with Amazon and other technology companies to help it bring its online shopping experience to more stores, including a partnership with Target that allows shoppers to buy goods from the company online.
The company will also be moving its entire online shopping operation to its new headquarters in New York, where it will have about 2,400 workers and an office in the Times Square shopping district.
That will bring its total workforce to more than 8,500 people.
Walmart is expected to have about 4,400 employees by the end of 2019, but the company said in March that it will hire another 3,500 employees to help make up the company’s new headquarters.
Some analysts expect that figure to rise as Walmart continues to work on the logistics of its online store.
