It’s hard to imagine any other way to shop online than with a card, but there’s a good chance you’ll find yourself stuck with a ticket. 

It’s not just about the cost, either. 

You can be stuck paying for your ticket when you get on the train and then get on another train and have to pay for the same ticket again.

What you should know about buying a train ticket with a debit card You don’t need to use a debit cards for all the train tickets you buy on the go. 

For some things, like buying tickets online, you can buy them at your station. 

However, if you’re on a regular train, like the London to Edinburgh, the same rules apply, so you should use a credit or debit card for the rest of your journeys.

A debit card will allow you to buy online at a range of retailers, including the likes of Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons, but not Tesco and Sainsburys. 

In fact, the first time you’ll have to go to the supermarket to buy a train seat, it’ll be because the train has left the station.

If that’s not possible, you’ll want to book your train tickets on a card.

This is the most convenient way to pay at a station, as it’s cheaper than the internet and you’ll get the full value of the ticket when it’s available. 

The process to book tickets online on the UKRailcard websiteYou can book online using a debit or credit card.

You can either buy tickets from a range the UKrailcard website, which has a list of more than 20,000 train stations, or you can pay with cash. 

On the UK railcard website , you can select the fare option and choose the station you want to go.

If you’re paying with cash, the money is then deposited into your bank account within five minutes.

You can buy your train ticket on a debit and credit card at the same time, though you’ll still have to complete a booking confirmation and pay with the cash option. 

When you buy online, your card is billed to your bank within a 24-hour period, and you can track how long the card has been in use.

If your bank isn’t the one who bills you for the ticket, you may be charged a service charge. 

How to pay by cashThe process is similar to buying online, but you’ll also have to submit a payment by cheque. 

This is where your bank will process the money. 

Cash payments aren’t accepted at all on the online site, but can be accepted on the phone, using a credit to debit transfer, or via the Royal Mail online service.

How much to buy on a railcardThe cost of buying a ticket online on a ticket platform depends on the ticket type. 

Tickets on the London-Paris and Gatwick-London raillines have the most flexible prices, while those on the Southern Railway, which runs through Birmingham and Manchester, have the cheapest.
