In a new video, a man named Andrew explains how to pronounce “sierra” department store.
“You can say it ‘skih,’ which is a way to sound like a horse,” he says in the clip.
“And then you can say ‘slim,’ which means to be more subdued, and you can pronounce it ‘shul,’ which just sounds like a bird.”
The clip was created by a friend of Andrew, who asked that we not use his real name for this story.
We’ve reached out to the store for comment and will update this post if we hear back.
We also reached out directly to the man behind the video, who said the sound is the result of an internet user using a Google Chrome extension that automatically changed the pronunciation of his user name.
“The way it sounds is because I used a Google extension, which is how Google handles their name changes,” the person told Fox Sports.
“If it was up to Google, it would be like ‘Slim Shul.'”
